Ballet Des Moines proudly presents the world premiere of composer Beau Kenyon’s Of Gravity and Light – a contemporary ballet exploring the beauty and wonder of space through ethereal imagery, abstract sound, and remarkable movement. Set in eight movements, Of Gravity and Light features choreography by Ballet Des Moines Artistic Director, Tom Mattingly, video installation by artist Yu-Wen Wu, and live musicians under the direction of conductor Tim McMillin.
Ticket holders have the option of engaging in a pre-show Interactive Virtual Reality experience! Iowa State University’s College of Design is bringing their Forward Learning Experience known as FLEx, to the Nollen Lobby at the Civic Center beginning at 6pm prior to the 7pm Of Gravity and Light performance.
The FLEx is a collaborative design outreach program between the College of Design, the College of Engineering and Iowa State Extension and Outreach. FLEx is partnering with Iowa 4-H for youth development and educational outreach.
